Leslie grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina. Her passion for working with large animals began at an young age showing her grandfather's registered Holstein cows. Leslie completed her undergraduate degree in
Animal Science with minors in Agricultural Business Management, Food Science, and Nutrition at North Carolina State University in 2008. Throughout college she worked on cattle, poultry, and swine farms gaining valuable practical experience. These experiences inspired Leslie to spend another four years in Raleigh to earn her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine focusing on food animal medicine. Leslie graduated from
North Carolina State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012.
